Paint the Committee Room PINK and Stand with Planned Parenthood

Where? Room 116 of the Ohio Statehouse, Columbus, OH
What? Even though there is a current legislative recess (during which no committees or voting sessions were scheduled until March 13), we just received a committee notice announcing the scheduling of a second hearing on HB 298, the Planned Parenthood defunding bill. Join me in making sure the committee knows we are watching, we know that they are trying to speed through this dangerous legislation and we are pissed. Wear PINK and be in the room at the latest 9am.

A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant, and a Prayer

What? Writings To Stop Violence Against Women and Girls, is a groundbreaking collection of monologues by world-renowned authors and playwrights, edited by Eve Ensler and Mollie Doyle and commissioned by V-Day for the first V-Day: UNTIL THE VIOLENCE STOPS festival, which took place June 2006 in New York City. The writings are inspired, funny, angry, heartfelt, tragic, and beautiful. But above all, together they create a true and profound portrait of how violence against women affects every one of us. A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant, And A Prayer are a call to the world to demand an end to violence against women. All proceeds from the book benefit V-Day. Tickets are $15/$20 at the door.

What? Join Women Speak Out for Peace and Justice for a light lunch and program featuring Sameena Nazir, who is the founding member of the new Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom chapter in Pakistan. She is a member of the International Human Rights Law group which has worked extensively for women’s empowerment and training in Pakistan. Ms. Nazir comes to Cleveland on the heels of attending the UN Consortium on Women and will share her experience and insights. This event is free and open to the public, donations are appreciated but not required. What? Freedom of Choice Ohio is calling on all pro-choice Ohioans to speak up, speak out, and lobby their senators about keeping abortion safe and legal. State lawmakers will return from their spring break in March and could pass the “heartbeat” abortion ban, at any time. Now is the time, join us on March 21st and make sure your voice is heard, speak out for women’s health, speak out against the “heartbeat” abortion ban!

Ohio Street Protest For Gay Marriage / Full Equality

Where? Public Square, Cleveland, OH
What? With two successful protest behind us here comes the NEXT! (Important date, because Cleveland will have vote on Gay Marriage on 3/30) Our 1st protest was on 11/5 having 417 protesters in Cincinnati, OH , and or next was on 12/3 having 341 protesters in Columbus, OH! We are trying to keep the pressure on OHIO to hear our voice for EQUAL MARRIAGE/FULL EQUALITY! Massive Marriage Ceremony also taking place after the protest at the free stamp in Cleveland, OH! Starts at 1:30 right after our protest! So far over 81 couples registered. For more information go to our separate event page just for the ceremonies.
